Genetic skin diseases

Genetic disorders of the skin include the following

  • Epidermyolosis bullosa
  • Ichthyoses
  • Albinism
  • Xeroderma pigmentosum
  • Palmoplantar keratosis
  • Pachyonychia congenita
  • Pyoderma gangrenosum

In addition, there are numerous syndromal disorders with skin involvement (e.g., neurofibromatosis, tuberous sclerosis complex, ectodermal dysplasia; Ehlers-Danlos, Gorlin-Goltz, Costello, and cardio-facio-cutaneous syndrome). A genetic cause may also be present in familial clustering or occurrence of multiple melanomas in a single person. Please note that we do not offer analysis of the FLG gene.
